Plato as a resistance hero
Why was Atlantis a Voodoo island from a perspective when Plato kicked a ball into a goal in Athens, Atlas of Atlantis did the same beyond the Pillars of Hercules? Did Plato have some remote control that he used to direct the twin Kings of Atlantis? Why was Atlantis bigger than Libya and Turkey together as it’s army flowed as the sand in an hourglass through the Strait of Gibraltar?
A short Dutch anecdote was derived from a satirical tv series in the 1990’s. This one program was about the WWII when our country was occupied by the Germans. After the war all Dutch citizens claimed to have been “resistance hero’s”. In this satirical program this resistance hero enigma was worked out to its real proportions. When a German officer asked a Dutch guy where the train station was, the Dutch hero pointed into the opposite direction. It was a little act of resistance to show how much the Dutch were really cowards during the occupation by the Germans.
The prostitute Rahab did the same in Joshua 2 when she hid two Isrealian spies. When the envoys of the King came to her house, she told them that the spies had already gone. For this seemingly small act the God of the Bible reckoned her being righteous. Jericho was destroyed but Rahab and her family were being saved. Rahab’s lying to the envoiys of the King was a kind of a war act.
As was Plato’s Atlantis story a kind of a war act (?). Plato pointed into the wrong direction as did the Dutch cowards when the German officers asked them the right way to the station. As did Rahab. The Dutch mislead the Germans as Rahab mislead the envoys of the King. Whom did Plato mislead? Actually he mislead the intellectuals, academics, philosophers, conference guys and archelogists. They all started to belief that Plato spoke about a mysterious island that was located on the horizon in the west. While the real Atlantis existed in the future on the banks of the Euphrates.
The apostle Paul had already encountered with these category of self proclaimed intellectuals when he gave his speech on the Areopagus in Acts 17. As Paul had beaten the gods of Atlantis on the Areopagus according to Plato, the very small army of Athens had beaten the mighty army of Atlantis. While Plato preached about a sunken island Atlantis, Paul preached about a guy named Christ who had been resurrected from the death.
